Measure With Confidence Information Guide

At BlindsForAmerica.com we take pride in guiding you through the process of selecting the right window covering for your windows. Our mission is to provide you with the finest quality shade or blind at the best price, therefore providing you with the best value on or off the web. We also want to help you measure your window accurately, so that you have no problems installing your brand new blinds.

The first step in measuring your window is to determine whether you want to install the blind as an Inside or an Outside mount. An Inside Mount installation is when the shade or blind fits between the inside of the frame of your window or between cabinets or walls. An Outside Mount installation is when the shade or blind will be mounted on the molding around the frame of your window or on the surface of a wall or door.

When ordering for an outside mount, you will want to make sure your shade/blind is wide enough to cover the entire window opening. Below is a chart of BlindsForAmerica.com recommended additions to your window opening measurements to insure optimal coverage and light control. Please be sure to use this handy guide to add the proper amount to insure a perfect fit for your window.

To place your shade or blind inside the window, please provide us with the actual dimensions inside the frame of your window. Please note, BlindsForAmerica.com will make the necessary deductions off your measurements, in order for your blinds to fit properly on an inside mount installation. You will have to make sure you have enough depth to install the brackets that hold up the blind. Below is a chart that lets you know the minimum depth you will need, by product, to perform an inside mount installation.

All of the blinds/shades we provide are custom made precisely to your measurements. As you are responsible for your own measurements BlindsForAmerica.com suggests you use a steel measuring tape and submit measurements to the nearest eighth of an inch. Please remember to distinguish between the width (horizontal) and the height (vertical) measurements of your window and double check all your measurements as it is impossible to make changes once the blinds have been made.

Please refer to the following charts in order to measure properly for your blinds. If you have any questions when measuring please call us at 1-888-540-7888.
